The one-year SAMHSA grant is designed to create statewide networks that represent mental health and addictions recovery communities to improve access to and the quality of behavioral health systems, services, treatment and recovery supports statewide. Evaluation activities include surveys, interviews, and strategic planning.

Services: Create state-level evaluation framework incorporating five dimensions of program outcomes, including quality of professional development activities and partnerships as well as changes in teachers’ content knowledge, teachers’ instructional practices, and students’ achievement. Analyses include cross-site meta-analyses of local evaluation results and hierarchical linear modeling to analyze local and global outcomes. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data including achievement scores, implemenation data, interviews, and exatant data. Evaluation plan incorporates meta-syntheses of teacher action research for local projects. Assess partnership quality through comprehensive interview protocol with artifact analyses and surveys of all key partners including teachers, local education administrators, higher education faculty, and industry partners. Evaluate the program outcomes for Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.

Complete nonparametric analyses of reading achievement and qualitative content analyses including triangulation of open-ended teacher surveys and focus group data to evaluate nonfiction reading outcomes and integration of technology in inquiry-based science and social studies curriculum for TLCF K-2 Reading/Math and LITES projects. Use regression analyses and MANOVA to analyze reading outcomes using student and classroom variables (for LITES; 2000-2002).
